One of the famous golf courses that the pros play is Augusta National. Augusta National is located in Augusta, Georgia. The course was opened in January of 1933. This course was designed by Bobby Jones and Alister MacKensie and was founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. Alister MacKenzie died January 6th 1934 only two months before the first masters tournament. Bobby Jones actually played at the Shenvalee Golf Course in New Market, Virginia. I thought that that was a cool fact. In 1934 The Masters was played at Augusta and has been played there ever since. Memberships cost any where from $10,000 to $30,000 per year. Jordan Speith Won this event last year with a total score of -18. For winning the tournament the player is awarded a green jacket that they have to return to the clubhouse on year after winning it. They have all of the green jackets displayed in the pro shop at the course. Gary Player "forgot" to bring his jacket back to the pro shop so his jacket is the only one that is not displayed. Instead it is displayed at the World Golf Hall of Fame in St.Augustine, Florida. The total purse of prize money in 2015 was 10 million dollars. Jordan received $1,620,000 for winning.
