One of the famous holes at Pebble Beach is the par 3 number 7 that plays just over 100 yards even in the professional tournaments. That hole is the most photographed hole in the world. It is famous because the tee is elevated and the background is nothing but Pacific Ocean. The golf course is right on the coast so there is lots of coastline views. Carmel Bay is just off the golf course so that is a great sight. The courses par is 72 . Pebble beach was founded by If you wanted to play there right now it would cost you over $600. That only includes a cart, your green fees, and a caddie. That doesn't include a place to stay or any food you might want. The first professional tournament Monterey Peninsula Open in 1926 the total purse was only $5,000. Pebble beach hosted its first major in 1929. The U.S Open has been played at Pebble Beach five times since it opened. It has been played in 1972, 1982, 1992, 2000 and 2010. The next time the U.S. Open will be at Pebble Beach is in 2019. This tournament will help Pebble Beach celebrate its 100th year of operation. Graeme McDowell claimed the win in 2010 and racked up $1,350,000 as a result. Thats a good pay day.
